We offer relationship therapy for individuals, couples and people in multi-partnered relationships, inclusive of gender, sexual, erotic and relationship diversity.
Many of us grow up with the notion that if you love someone it should be easy. Sadly, life is rarely that simple. No relationship is ever without its challenges. And yet how many of us are taught how to make relationships work?
A change or crisis can easily throw you off balance. Or perhaps you’ve lost your connection, drifted apart and need help finding your way back together? We will help you make sense of what’s going on. We’ll give you equal time, understanding and attention, and support you through what can be a challenging and emotional process.
We work with all styles of relationship: with people in monogamous relationships and multi-partnered relationships (non-monogamy, polyamory, etc), and those exploring or embracing BDSM and kink.
If you’re not sure what to expect from relationship therapy, this short video from The School of Life sums it up nicely!
People come to us for help with many different relationship concerns, including:
Our Associate Therapists, who are in their final year of training, offer low cost relationship therapy starting at £55, for up to 20 weekly sessions (or 12 fortnightly sessions).
Relationship Therapy with our more experienced therapists starts from £95 a session.
Your Time To Talk offers relationship therapy for couples and people in non-monogamous, open and polyamorous relationships. We help people improve communication, resolve conflict, strengthen emotional and sexual connection, identify negative patterns of behaviour, and manage separations. Online sessions start from £55 and in-person from £60.
This depends on your situation and what you want from therapy.
Some people work with us for 6-12 sessions; others for longer. The average is 6-9 months.
Our aim is always to empower people to have the knowledge, skill and confidence to leave therapy when they feel ready.
The first few sessions focus on gathering information about your relationship, the problems you want to overcome, how well you communicate, and identifying goals.
Together, we will explore the roots of your problems, learn ways of improving communication and dealing with conflict, and find ways forward that feel fair and balanced. Your therapist will also give you homework to practise new skills.
Both or all partners need to attend as we are working with your relationship.
That said, individual sessions can be suggested to deepen the therapist’s understanding of each partner, address sensitive personal issues (like trauma) that affect the relationship, or manage high-conflict dynamics.
No. Relationship therapy is often most effective before things reach breaking point, to prevent issues from getting worse.
It is also really helpful around the time of major transitions, like moving in together, starting a family or retirement.
